Engage with Schools, Colleges slightly further afield, but still on a commuter route. Accept the invitations to give career talks, carry out speed networking, hosting a work experiance student.
The government will co-fund 95% of the apprenticeship training fund (excluding wages, travel costs etc) – there is also a page on the government website now called Pledge Fund – where Levy paying employers not utilising all their levy pledge to fund apprenticeships with other business (T&Cs apply)
Every sector needs to write an appendix of the acronym associated with their business, and educations/apprenticeships is no different! – some common ones i get asked are; KSBs – Knowledge, Skills, Behaviours OTJ – Off the Job / On the Job training. on average 20% of an apprentice’s working week, needs to be spent completing Off the Job training. EPA – End Point Assessment Gateway – The phase when an apprentice has completed anime mandatory quals & met all the KSBs they enter gateway, prior to starting their End Point Assessment Preparation. SMART Targets – Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, time Bound.
Be transparent with the Apprentice/Grad – when they have finished their apprenticeship, what is it they want to do, what roles are available in the business. What are their career aspirations. These conversations shouldn’t happen 6months before the end of the programme, but form part of ongoing progress reviews & appraisals.
