Description

  1. Welcome, Icebreaker & Objectives (30 mins)
    • Why Train the Trainer?
    • Challenges of training existing employees and new starters.
    • Course outcomes.
    • Icebreaker: “Best & Worst training experiences”.
  2. Understanding How Adults Learn (60 mins)
    • Adult learning principles.
    • Learning preferences such as VARK or Honey & Mumford, with an optional short quiz.
    • Memory, retention and cognitive load, and keeping things simple.
    • How this impacts session design.
  3. Training Needs Analysis (45 mins)
    • Identifying skill gaps.
    • Training versus coaching versus teaching.
    • Scoping a training requirement.
  4. Designing Engaging Training (75 mins)
    • Writing learning outcomes.
    • Chunking content.
    • Selecting the right delivery methods.
    • Creating inclusive training.
    • Using stories, demonstrations and activities.
    • Activity: Create a session plan in small groups.

Lunch (45 mins)

  1. Delivering Training Effectively (75 mins)
    • Presentation skills.
    • Questioning techniques.
    • Managing group dynamics.
    • Handling difficult situations.
    • Encouraging participation from Gen Z learners, optional extension tailored to early careers.
  2. Micro-Teach Sessions (60–75 mins)
    • Each participant delivers a 5 to 10 minute session they designed earlier.
    • Peer and trainer feedback using a consistent model.
    • Reflection on strengths and growth points.
  3. Assessment, Feedback & Evaluation (30 mins)
    • Formative versus summative assessment.
    • Checking understanding.
    • Evaluating a training session.
  4. Wrap-Up, Action Planning & Next Steps (15 mins)
    • Personal action plans.
    • Useful resources.
    • Q&A.
